Abstract
Most children with intellectual disability (ID) have problems with executive functioning(EF), resulting in barriers for working memory, planning, inhibition, and cognitive flexibility. A randomized control trial with 42 children with ID was conducted to assess the efficacy of the Yonsei Executive Function Training System for Special Kids (YESS). In addition, four domains of subjective well-being among parents and teachers were assessed using self-reported questionnaire. The result indicated that the trial groups showed a significantly increased in planning as compared to, the waiting groups whereas their teachers reported a significant decrease in job burnout. However, no significant changes were observed in the other three domains of cognitive tasks. Limitations of the study and implications for future research are dicussed.
